This new scandal of spot fixing in Pakistan cricket is not new at all. It seems like old wine in new bottles. Pakistan is a corruption-tolerant country. Good reputation don't mean a thing in Pakistan except, of course, you are instantly considered spoil sport and a man of limited means. Ill repute is considered fame. Being jailed and back is like joining an elite group of people. Not paying your debts is to be merely resourceful and clever. In short, you are destined for greater and dizzying heights once you have got the notoriety of being corrupt behind you. No one will be allowed to harm you, that in Pakistani lingo means justice will not be served, and a shiny new future awaits you. Who knows, you can even be the President!
Is this politics or cricket? Politics it is, but it just isn't cricket -- not in my book.
